Objective: Create a business logo based on the given prompt words "plant" and "coffee."
Project Overview: For a graphic design class project, the objective was to create a logo for a hypothetical business that incorporated two words that were given to you. I got the words "plant" and "coffee." I named the business "Evergreen Coffee" to evoke a sense of freshness and sustainability, aligning with the natural and organic connotations of both plants and coffee.
Process:
Brainstorming and Sketching:
I began the project by brainstorming how to visually represent the concepts of "plant" and "coffee."
I developed 20 different logo sketches, exploring various styles, shapes, and compositions.
Classmate and Professor Feedback:
I presented the 20 sketches to my classmates and professor for feedback.
A voting process was conducted, where they selected their favorite designs.
Refinement and Digital Creation:
Based on the feedback and votes, I refined the selected sketch and created the logo in Adobe Illustrator.
I experimented with different elements to ensure the logo was visually appealing and clearly communicated the brand identity.
Color Scheme and Font Selection:
I chose a color scheme that reflected the natural and inviting feel of Evergreen Coffee. The colors were selected to represent the freshness of plants and the warmth of coffee.
For the font, I selected a typeface that complemented the logo design and conveyed a sense of modernity and approachability.
Class Critiques and Revisions:
Throughout the design process, I participated in class critiques to gather additional feedback.
I used the feedback to make revisions, enhancing the logo's clarity and aesthetic appeal.
Final Logo and Mockup:
The final logo was polished and finalized in Adobe Illustrator.
I created a mockup of a business card featuring the Evergreen Coffee logo to demonstrate its practical application in branding materials.
Outcome: The final logo for Evergreen Coffee successfully combines the concepts of "plant" and "coffee," creating a cohesive and visually appealing brand identity. The iterative design process, including feedback from classmates and the professor, ensured that the logo met high standards of design and communication.
Tools Used:
Adobe Illustrator
This project taught me valuable lessons in concept development, iterative design, and the importance of incorporating feedback into the creative process. The final result is a strong logo that effectively represents the hypothetical Evergreen Coffee brand.
